BASED ON A TRUE STORY, LOCAL AUTHOR/KEYNOTE SPEAKER LAUNCHES DEBUT NOVEL FOR YOUNG ADULTS
“Jump into suspense, young romance and mayhem at an international college in the middle of the Swiss Alps, where an American student walks a thin tight rope, barely balanced by a web of troubles.”

ROCKLIN, CA, January 6, 2015 – Local inspirational author, Joanne Veeck, has recently added a novel for young adults to her collection of published books. In addition to authoring three children’s books, Joanne co-authored Stepping Stones to Success with Deepak Chopra, Jack Canfield, and a few other experts in the field of Positive Psychology. She holds a lifetime teaching credential, is a national speaker, certified life coach, and the founder of Women Inspire Women (WIW) of Rocklin, a women’s group that supports and inspires personal success and well-being. In 2012, Joanne was invited to present her children’s book, Your Leaves Are Pretty, at Sacramento’s largest literary event.

Set in Switzerland, Semester Abroad is a story of a daughter of a top executive, expected to keep to the rules, who does anything but that. She talks her way into going to a small, relatively unknown college in Europe, for one compelling reason, and then becomes entangled in a physical and emotional tug of war that takes a shocking turn.

From skiing at world famous resorts in Switzerland, to the ritzy Champs-Elysees Boulevard in Paris, the red-light district in Amsterdam, and other European marvels, Joanne and her college friends experience the full gamut of a semester abroad, including a near-death accident and many close calls.

J. Workman, an elementary school teacher from Boulder, Colorado, who holds a masters in Educational Psychology, said, “Although Joanne Veeck’s novel, Semester Abroad, is geared to young adults, I couldn’t put it down, and I’m in my thirties. Heart-wrenching, suspenseful, romantic and funnythis story is captivating and impossible not to love.”
